Genetics
Selection Evolution is a peer-reviewed journal dedicated to
original research on genetics and selection in farm or experimental
animals, as well as in wild or related populations. With the recent
developments in molecular genetics and the increased diversity of
genetic data, GSE will contribute to the future progress in animal
genetics which requires a successful integration of the various
techniques and results.
The journal welcomes fundamental,
applied, and methodological works which help understand, maintain
and make use of the animal genetic variability. It publishes papers
at different levels of study: from the gene to the trait; from the
individual to the population, the breed, or the species; from molecular
genetics to applied genetics, including population genetics and
statistical genetics.
Topics covered by
the journal are the following :
gene identification, gene mapping,
QTL and markers,
functional genomics,
cytogenetics
genetic diversity of populations,
genetic evaluation,
applied and experimental selection,
statistical methodology with polygenic or mixed inheritance.
The journal publishes 6 issues per year,
i.e. about 40 papers and 700 pages. The origin of the papers
is very diverse and less than 25% of them originate from the department.
Rejection rate is around 60%. GSE papers are in open access 12 months
after publication. In 2006, its Impact Factor was 1.778
GSE also publishes special issues
:
the proceedings of the Colloquium of the "Bureau
des Ressources Génétiques" in 2001,
the proceedings of the Second international symposium
on candidate genes for animal health in 2003,
the proceedings of the International workshop on major
genes and QTL in sheep and goat in 2005.
